The design
Long before the wheels begin to turn, your journey with Tonkin Heritage Express begins here — in the Hanoi Lounge.
Conceived as both sanctuary and stage, this lounge was designed to slow time: the walls glow with the warmth of polished wood, while handwoven motifs whisper the stories of the H’Mong and Dao. Cushions of crimson and indigo invite you to sink in, as lanterns cast a gentle light reminiscent of mountain evenings.
The feel
In this space, travel is never rushed. Guests gather like family in an old home, sharing anticipation over tea, savoring freshly popped popcorn, and drifting into the fragrant memories of tea hills and golden fields. Every detail — from the intricately carved accents to the graceful curves of the seating — was crafted to bridge refinement and tradition, creating a space where elegance meets heritage.

The design
At the foothills where rail meets mountain, the Lao Cai Lounge opens as both a welcoming haven and a refined dining hall. Spacious and luminous, it is not merely a lounge, but a prologue or an epilogue to the Northwest — a place where flavors, textures, and traditions of the highlands gather, whether your journey is just beginning or gracefully drawing to a close.
The feel
The menu here is inspired by the mountains. The Mountain Honey-Glazed Pork evokes the sweetness of forest honey flowing through terraced valleys. The Sapa Chicken and Mushroom Soup embodies the warmth of misty villages, rich with earthy flavors of the uplands. And the Highland Salmon Steak, seared to perfection, recalls the cold streams coursing through Lao Cai’s rocky gorges. Each dish is prepared with care, transforming local ingredients into an experience of both authenticity and elegance.
